Getting a new computer!!!
Hey all! I am in the process (as of today) of setting up my new computer! The one I have been using is just a little to old, and has been really acting up... a reason for why I have been lax on all the foal updates and such. I just don't enjoy having to work off of it! Anyways, when you see that no horse is in the foaling stall at night, it is just because the foals are spending the night outside that day. The weather has been really nice, so sometimes, they get to "camp out", lol. Lady has been confirmed in foal to Mr Yella Fella (Aurora's Dad!), and I am so excited! Missy isn't in foal (darn her, lol) so she will be re bred to Im Tee Totally Cool. Fixation is bagging up, and is looking really good. She is due the 7th of April, and "usually" goes late (I will check how usually late...). Her belly is huge! She should be coming up fairly soon. There isn't a huge rush since the weather is so very nice, and she enjoys being outside. Taylor
Spring is Finally Here... For Now...
Man, the babies are growing so fast, it is amazing! It feels like they were just born yesterday! Sorry I haven't posted this week... For some reason some of my normal websites (like blogger and photobucket...etc) just haven't been working. Very strange and annoying! We checked Missy Monday and she isn't in foal, darn, lol. It happens, we will just re-breed her. I think Lady is getting checked tomorrow. She is bred to Mr Yella Fella (Aurora's dad), and I am soooo excited about that cross. We just need to make sure she is in foal, then wait 11 long months, whew. Fixation is looking really good. She had a good roll in the mud today, and enjoyed it very much, she is filthy! Her bag is slowly building, but I am keeping a really close eye on her. She will probably start coming up soon. I really hope we have another filly out of her! Taylor
Update
The past couple of days have been beautiful! It has been really wet though, the ground is has been soaking up all the melted snow/rain. Hopefully that means we will have lots of grass this spring and summer! All the horses are doing great, the babies just keep growing and growing! Aurora is a tank, but a very elegant tank at that. She is an amazing filly. Tramp is filling out and is still the sweetest guy around. Lady isn't a great milker, so he is as blown up as Aurora was at his age. He is eating his own feed now, so he is a happy boy. Wendy is extremely sweet too, and loves to be scratch anywhere, even her head. Speaking of her head, boy is it nice! Fixation is looking good, she is slowly bagging up. Every few days she seems to progress. (She is due 5/7). I will be keeping an extra good eye on her this year... As many of you know, she tricked me really good last year when she had Fletcher! She didn't look ready at all, and so she wasn't on the cam, and well, you know what happened, LOL. Sneaky mare! Her belly is huge, and she seems very comfortable and happy. I have a gut feeling Mr Tramp is going to be the only colt born this year, not sure why, but something tells me Fix is going to have a little (big) girl! Whew, just saw Aurora go bucking and running by threw the window. I think she is trying to out run a couple of flies! Missy is getting preg-checked this Friday, and I really hope she is in foal!!! I think Lady will get checked a couple of days later, maybe that Monday, I can't really remember. Both of them have always been very easy breeders, so I think we will be good to go!
Aurora
Good Day all! I have been working with Aurora getting her to accept the halter and lead, and she is doing great! I am not one who likes the leave halters on the foals all the time, but it can be hard to get a halter on Rory because she wants her rear end scratched... So while you are trying to get a halter on the front, she is trying to line up her rear to the halter, LOL. She could care less that something new and foreign is on her head, she would just rather me spend my time being her personal rear scratcher! Silly girl. She is also doing great on the lead rope too, I am so pleased. She isn't one of those horses that freaks out in every new situation, she thinks about it, and then reacts. I was very happy. I led her around the pasture today, and then to the barn for the first time tonight. She will even come when Abby isn't in front of her, so that is nice too. Hopefully, all the foals will be this easy this year! Just a reminder, Fixation is due April 7th, but, has a habit of always going over her due date, varying from a week to two weeks... We will see. Taylor
Very Cold!!!
Brrr, it is freezing here today! It went from warm and pleasant to wet and cold in just one night, and now we are expecting snow flurries, though, they shouldn't stick. The babies got to stay inside today, all were very happy except Miss Aurora, who doesn't nap as much as Tramp and Wendy. This crazy Texas weather kills me! I think we have made a final decision on who to bred Lady to this week, Mr Yella Fella! Aurora is just so amazing, how could we not bred Lady to him?!? (Lady is not Aurora's mom, for all those who don't know, Sis was.) I am so excited, to bad we will have to wait 11 months though, ha!
