Whew, Sorry
Sorry I have not been blogging as I usually do, I have just have not been feelings all that great! Everyone (horses) are doing great! The babies are growing, especially Aurora, who is about a month and a couple of weeks older than Tramp and Wendy. Aurora is definitely the spunkiest and the greatest source of entertainment around the barn, she is so cute. Tramp is the calmest sweetest guy you will ever met, I just can't believe he is a colt! All the colts I know are well, more "colt-like"!!! lol. Wendy is very quite, and just as cute as she can be. She loves to "talk" to anyone who will talk back. Her and Tramp love to snuggle with me, where as Aurora loves that too, she is more concerned about you scratching her rear end! Missy has been bred to Im Tee Totally Cool (I know, change of plans!), and has ovulated. She is the easiest breeder on the property, knock on wood, so hopefully that will be that and she will be good to go for next year! I am still not sure who I want to breed to Lady yet... So she is going to wait, I am hurrying though. Thankfully, she wasn't looking ready to breed when we checked her this morning, so I have a few more days or so to decide! I promise to get you all some pictures soon! Thanks, Taylor
The New Filly's Name is...
...Wendy!!! This little girl is sooo cute, though, she isn't quite sure what to think about Tramp and Aurora. Aurora is much more interested in Wendy than Tramp is, but, Missy doesn't want to do anything with Aurora. lol. Wendy will be the last foal born for a few months, since Fixation is due in the spring (she gets to wait till it warms up!). We will be breeding Missy to Hes Tee Totally Cool (APHA/AQHA), who was the dad of Banner and Leo! I "think" we will be breeding Lady to young stud Fearless (AQHA), can't wait to see that cross! On a bit of a said note (don't worry, not to sad), we are thinking about downsizing on our herd. All of the foals are for sale (of course, like always), but Missy will be offered for sale, in foal to Hes Tee Totally Cool this year. She is a great mare, both of her foals are showing successfully and headed to the World Show this year. She is only offered for sale because we will be only focusing on Quarter Horses next year. Her filly "Wendy" is also for sale, and can be sold alone or with her. Downsizing will give me a chance to focus on about two foals a year, and could possibly make room for us to kept Aurora, as a show horse and broodmare in the future. Please email for pricing and more info on Missy or any of this years foals, or three colts from last year! Have fun watching Miss Wendy grow! Now, we just have to wait for Fixation ,lol.
***FILLY***
Missy just had a beautiful sorrel Filly, with some chrome too! I noticed she was silently uncomfortable last night, but figured she would foal tonight, not this morning at around 7! lol! I am not sure if this filly has a belly spot or not, but to be honest, I haven't even really looked at her. I was just making sure she is healthy! She has two pretty high stockings, a sock, and big wide blaze too (which could help with registering her. She is a great filly, and I am sooo pleased! Thanks for watching with me! This girl will be our last baby for a few months, so enjoy watching her grow! Taylor and Harpole Farms
9 PM Missy Update
Missy has a few changes this evening. Her bag is huge (just like always, lol), but her teats look much more ready, than they have been looking the past few nights. She had a big piece of wax on one side, and a bit of milk on the other, silly girl. Missy rear is very mushy as well. She can definitely foal tonight, but will she, I have know way of knowing!?! We just have to wait and watch... And hopefully, if Missy decides to bless us with her foal, it won't be to late! One can hope.
Hmmm
Missy looks about the same, she may have back tracked a little this morning, but now, I think she is back up to pace. It is, unfortunately, a waiting game at the moment. She is so huge, she is waddling when she walks! Her due date is the 19th, and I wouldn't be surprised if she waits till that day, or after... But (lol), I also wouldn't be surprised if she goes early either! I know, I am not much help. She "most likely" has a few more nights in her... That being said about the way she looked when she was brought up for the night. I will check her this evening, and give you all an update! Taylor P.S. Aurora and Tramp are doing great!
9:00 PM Update
Just checked Missy for the night, and she is ready to foal whenever she wants... But, I haven't seen a lot of signs (like tail swishing, belly kicking, etc) that really says she is going to go tonight. She is waxing up, then will leak a little bit of milk, then she waxes up again. But still, she just seems to quiet at the moment. I haven't seen her lay down, for more than about a minute, which is a little odd. We will just have to wait and see! But remember that just because I say that she may not look like tonight is the night, doesn't mean Missy won't pick up the pace at any given moment...
Cold and Wet!
Brrr, it is very cold and raining cats and dogs. It has just now let up for the moment, it has been raining none stop for hours. Missy is looking about the same, very ready, which can be bad news for us, since all we can do is wait... lol. She is not dripping milk at the moment, most likely from being outside all day, but she has tons of wax. Wax is natures way of saying, don't let that milk out till the baby is born. Check back later this evening for another update on Missy, since things can change within hours with expecting mares! Taylor
Missy Watch (Midnight Weather Update!)
Update: We are expecting heavy rain tonight, it is actually raining right now (midnight). It is lighting and thundering too. The point is, the power could go out, and the cam will shut off as well. And since it is hooked up to a computer, it won't turn back on with out me restarting the computer... So, I am praying it will stay on. I just thought I would warn you all, since people naturally assume that when a cam isn't connecting, something bad happened and the owners turned off the camera. Thanks, TaylorGood evening all. Ok, Missy seems very ready to foal! She is even dripping milk off and on... So I would guess tonight or tomorrow night for the "big event". She has straw down, so all we can do is wait, fun, I know. Remember, two thumbs up for a filly and one thumb up for a colt! Thanks, Taylor
Evening Update
Ha--- I sound like a news reporter with a title like that. Missy is looking really close, but, I don't think tonight will be "the" night. Darn, right? But, always remember I do not know these things for sure... Just because I make a "guess", doesn't mean Missy won't go tonight! I do think she is very close though. Everything looks great, except the coloring of her wax, which is really the only reason there isn't straw down yet. Once it is a cloudy white color, she should be extremely close. Both times Missy has foaled, she foaled around 12 am to 3 am... So I don't think (knock on wood) she will think about foaling during the day. Plus, she loves coming up at night, I think she would rather foal inside. It is going to be freezing here this weekend... So naturally, she will probably wait to foal when it is in the 30's. Brrr. Night everyone. Taylor
Happy Valentines Day!
Missy is making great progress! Her bag looks like it is going to pop, and she is making lots of wax, trying to keep that colostrum in till baby comes! I am hoping and thinking we will have a new baby this weekend! Missy definitely seems much more comfortable in this pregnancy than the other two times, which is great. She has a very low tolerance for pain... She can be a drama queen. How cute would it be to have a Valentines baby!?! Scout's birthday is tomorrow! She will be 2 yrs old, and she is huge. Anyways, back to Missy. Her teats are filling out, but, she doesn't get super full teats like some of our other mares do, even though she is a great milker. So, we will see what she looks like tonight! Thanks for watching! Taylor
Miss Missy
Missy is doing great, she was very happy about coming up tonight, she seems to be enjoying her alone time in the stall. Today she still had a good amount of wax, bag is huge and hard, isn't regressing either. I would like to see her teats "pop" and fill up a little more, but i have a feeling they will start tonight, they at least look like they are. I also noticed today Missy was doing a lot of tail raising and swishing, so she could have been positioning the foal, since it was to chilly for there to be any flies. She has also relaxed a lot in her back end, a big change from 2 days ago. I bought some more straw today, so I have that ready to lay down. I may go ahead and put some down tonight, we will have to see what she is looking like at around 9 pm when I check her. At the moment, I don't think she would go tonight, but I usually make that guess when I check a mare at 9 to 10 pm. Hopefully we will have a beautiful loud overo FILLY (lol) in about three to two days! Taylor
Missy!!!!
Well, Missy is up in the foaling stall because I went to go check on all the mares this afternoon and noticed she was waxed on both teats! So, here she is. Sorry you all couldn't watch Mr. Tramp a little longer, but Missy is ready to go. Missy is due the 19th, but usually waxes about three days, drips milk, then foals the day she drips. So, based on that, I will say she has a "few" mores days to go, just a few. I am not sure if I will leave the lights on all night or not, I will see what she is looking like tonight. If you see Missy pacing or anything like that, most likely it is because she can't see the other horses in the barn, but see wants too. So, she probably isn't in labor, she is just acting silly... Ok, so I will update you all later if there is any change! Thanks. Taylor
Foal Updates
Tramp and Lady are doing great! Tramp is a very quiet boy, so different than Aurora, and is the sweetest colt you will ever meet! If you didn't know better, you would think he is a filly, a giant filly. He loves to have his withers scratched, and for some reason likes it when i blow air on his muzzle, guess he thinks it is like his mommy's kisses. Lady seems very happy with her new baby boy... She has only ever had two colts (counting tramp) and didn't seem to enjoy her first rowdy boy, Max, quite as much as her fillies! Aurora, wow, am I happy with her! She is a happy go lucky girl (with attitude), and very smart. She wants to play with Tramp so bad, but is to afraid of Lady to get to close yet. She is by far the best foal out of Sis, and I am so excited to see what her future holds! Be watching for Missy, who is due the 19th, and already really bagged up. She should be coming on the cam soon, but I'm not sure of the exact date she will be coming up yet. I am so excited about the cross with "Image" (Image of Kid)!!! He has had amazing foals, and has thrown a color on most of his APHA foals. This foals should be a knock out. I can't tell you how pleased I am with the two foals we already have, wow, is all I can say! Thanks for watching these babies grow up with us! Taylor
Its a BOY (PICS)
Well, Lady had a a huge, dark bay colt! His name is Tramp, for Lady and The Tramp! lol. He is the biggest foal i have even seen in my life! Lady was having a hard time getting him out! He is so beautiful, or I should say handsome! Here are some pics! Thanks, Taylor
Waxed!!!!
Lady has lots of wax today! She even had some dried milk on her back legs. I would guess that tonight will be "the" night, but like i say, mares, will be mares! lol. She is very uncomfortable this evening, and isn't to interested in eating her grain or hay. I was working in the barn, but decided to leave it for now, since she was not to happy. I will be around the house, watching, but do call if you see the tip of the sac! Thanks. Remember, two thumbs up for a filly, one thumb up for a colt! Prayers for a safe foaling please, Thanks, Taylor
Could be Close.... Or not....
Well, Lady is looking really, really pregnant! lol. She has been pretty grumpy towards the other horses today, and I don't think her bag regressed at all while she was outside today, which is a great sign. Her bag is huge, and teats are down and full. I am hoping (fingers crossed) to find some wax tonight... We will have to see later on for that. lol. She is keeping her tail raised quite a bit, and is carrying really low today. Hopefully we will have a healthy buckskin filly (i hope, lol) in the next two days! Thanks Guys. Oh and "if" she goes, two thumbs up for a filly and one thumb up for a colt! Thanks, Taylor
Day 15
LOL. Ok, Lady is looking great. We had one change today in her. Lady's girl areas (lol) are very relaxed, loose, and puffy. She isn't putting her tail down much either. Her bag is really big, but, I don't really like to judge her bag to closely right when I put her up, since she has been out all day moving around. So, as usual I will check her tonight, and if there is any change, I will update you when I return! Hopefully, we are getting closer! Taylor
Lady Update
Well, the vet was near by today, so he came to check on Lady, to make sure her and baby were doing alright. He didn't want to palpate her (don't want to irritate mom/baby) but said her bag looked great, and her body looked like baby was positioned correctly too. He thinks she has about 3 to 7 days left in her (darn, LOL). Of course, she can go any time now... lol. I will be out this evening, and back around 10-ish, so extra eyes on Lady would be appreciated! Thanks. She will be back in her stall around 5 pm, and if anything new is going on I will update you, if not, you will have to wait till I get home!!! So sorry, LOL. Everyone else (mares) are doing great. Miss Aurora is growing, and is sooo beautiful! Ok, I will be back later all. I think I will be leaving around 5:30 this evening... Taylor
Cold Weather Coming!
Well, I walked outside earlier today and burrr, it has gotten pretty cold. The wind was coming from the north west at first, but now it is coming from the north, so it is cooling down pretty fast. We also got some rain last night, not sure if it will rain again tonight. It is already pretty dark here, so there is probably a good chance it will rain again. Lady looks about the same, I will be watching her pretty carefully tonight, with this big weather change coming on. She will have her normal check this evening, and if anything is new, I will update you! When I don't update you, that is usually because nothing new is going on, just to let you know. Not really sure how much longer she can hold out, her belly is just huge. Come on Lady Bug. Taylor
Maybe
Ok, Lady is looking very close. Everything points to "go", even though i haven't seen any wax yet, though, that doesn't always mean much. She was pretty uncomfortable early last night, and this morning. I was worried that she was going to try and trick me and go in the pasture, so I had lots of "window checks" today. I will most likely go and check on her later this evening, if there's anything new to report, I will update you. Hopefully we will have a baby soon! Taylor
Straw Down (Close, I think)
Well, after the Giants won the Super Bowl, the night would get even better if Lady foals. lol. If you can't tell already, I put straw down. She is close enough that it is time, and I don't want to be spreading straw with the foal hanging out, talk about stress. Lady's bag is huge, full, no wax, but everything else points to soon. She is very relaxed in her back end, flanks are very sunken in, and tummy is low. It is nice out tonight, perfect foaling weather, lol. Be praying for a safe foaling, and a healthy mare and filly--- I mean foal. Thanks, Taylor P.S. If she goes, I will do two thumbs up for a filly, and one thumb up for a colt. Ok, got it? Good. See you all later, hopefully, lol. Taylor
I am Back!
Whew, I am tired! Let me first apologize for not blogging while I was aways, I did not have a computer, like I thought i would have access to... Good thing is, Lady waited for me! lol. Lady is doing great, her bag is a lot bigger than it was, so maybe she is just needing to "cook" that baby a little bit longer.?. lol. Aurora is just growing bigger and bigger, she is so adorable, and such a looker. Watch out all 08 fillies, you have some serious competition ladies. Ok, I am going to watch the super bowl, so this will be a short and sweet blog, lol. I will have a Lady update later this evening! Thanks for all that watched Lady while I was away, you all are awesome, and I don't know what I would have done without your eyes. It definitely made me stay calmer! Taylor
