Ruth has Tons of WAX!!!!!

Ok, well this caught me off guard a little this morning! She had tons of wax on both teats, great now I have to be checking her every hour in a 15 acre pasture! She does have her halter on though. LOL. So, I am still going for the famous horse name theme here, so fire away! I am trying to involve my family on the naming process, since I always name the foal.... hehehe. I have a few favs already. And they don't just have to be famous race horses, they can be anything.... Just not a mule or something. LOL. Anyways, A cool tidbit for you. I named my Omaha for the famous race horse, turns out Fixation has Omaha in her pedigree! Cool right? Anyways, be praying for a safe foaling, healthy momma and baby too! I think she should go in the next few days to a week from now! I say a week because Fix waxed for almost a week and a half before baby Scout was born, it was horrible. Just to remind you all, Ruth is brown (a beautiful brown at that), and is bred to Hes Tee Totally Cool a double reg. Stallion (AQHA/APHA), so if this foal has enough white on it, it can be double registered!Talk to yall later, Taylor. P.S. If you having trouble with posting back to me email me @ arwenevenstar606@yahoo.com and we can figure something out, might have to use bevs board, which is the coolest horse board ever! Oh, and if by God's grace Ruth does foal tonight don't be surprised if you don't see us in there for a while, wouldn't want to stop the labor or anything like that, but do call just in case! Thanks guys, Taylor

Will we be seeing a baby soon?

Good evening. Ruth looked really good today, bag is really, really big, but her teats haven't really filled up yet though. She might be like Missy, being that Missy doesn't really ever have full teats until her baby has nursed. lol. It is weird, because Ruth's bag always looks fuller when she's been outside walking around, but after a night in the stall it seems like its drawn up! Go figure.... Fixation is bagging up really well. I am not sure about Scottie though, it seems as though she is slightly! Omaha is looking very handsome these days, his hocks have made a huge improvement. I am very happy about that, since it was practically his only problem. He is such a sweet heart, my little baby. He isn't head shy at all, which I have never had a foal like that. Plus he is already letting me pick up his feet, for a few seconds at a time. He is more like a huge dog, always greeting you with a whinny instead of a lick on the face! Anyway, Dr. Spencer is coming tomorrow, pray that Missy will be coming into heat! I want to hurry up and bred her, I think we are thinking about Image of Kid, I am pretty sure that is the final decision. LOL. Anyways have a good night, Taylor

Ruth Update

Hey all. Ruth's bag is still filling on out, it is pretty darn big. I don't think it will be much longer till it is full and her teats with start filling. Fixation's bag is already starting fill up. I don't really think Scottie is doing anything today! LOL. Omaha has his big boy halter on now! So cute, he head is so small that it was really hard to find one that fit his doll head. We are bringing Lady home tomorrow from Kids Classic Style's barn. We decided just to take her up there to be bred instead of driving about 30 minutes back and forth! So, she did ovulate.... I didn't get to the point! I don't know if I told you that Sis is bred, we are just waiting to get a heart beat. Anyways, I am hoping we will be seeing some more babies soon! Taylor

Oh Toto, I don't think were in Kansas anymore....

It is so windy here. The air is a soft brown, there is so much dirt flying around! Ruth's bag may be getting a little bigger, but it seems like she is at a stand still, if you know what I mean. It is kind of hard to tell because she is SO big! Fixation is starting to build a bag, and even Scottie is a little. So Ruth better hurry up, or they will catch up with her, and I will really be stressed! Otherwise, everything is good here, except the wind. Omaha is just growing into a beautiful colt. It is a shame he isn't a loud overo, just because the halter paint studs really need to be loud.... Politics! For english they can't be to loud, with western they can be but not white socks! It can be so ridiculous sometimes. Anyways, better go do barn chores! Taylor P.S. Updated photos are in the bottom 2 posts. I seperated them so it would be eaiser to load!

Here is an extra helping for you.... Well a small helping anyway. Look at this guy "baby" muscle in this pic. He is a really nice colt. Not only in looks, but a sweet heart too! LOL. Taylor

Some Pictures!

Ok, Since I was again assistant free today, these might not be that amazing, but they are here none the less! LOL. I only took some of Omaha, Missy, and Abby the recip mare that has been confirmed pregnant with Sis's baby by Mr Yella Fella. Can't wait to see that baby next year. Lady is a breeder on Friday, don't know what Missy is doing, wasn't here when our vet came. I forgot to ask too, opps, must not be that good if I wasn't told anything. Be praying that she hurries up and comes into heat this week, I don't like having late paint babies, because the World Show is so early in the year. Ruth is doing good, progressing more everyday, though her teats haven't filled out... So, I will see tonight I guess. I just want her to go soon, while the weather is soooo nice. It was even a little warm here today. I could do with a little bit cooler of weather, but hey, I am not complaining. Ok, we put a camera up in Omaha's Stall, but for some reason when the camera swap images, it won't transfer to Missy's Stall!!!! So, I might start putting the cam on them for a little while during the evenings, but then but it only on Ruth at night, what do you think? The picture is great on that cam, but since the stall is smaller, you don't always see the whole image, I think I needed to drill it up higher in the stall! Oh well, whats done is done. Well, enjoy the pictures! Taylor P.S. I Have a post above this one with more pics. :)

Its soooo warm outside...

It was a gorgeous day today, Had the camera all ready too. BUT, it is so hard to take decent pics when your all by yourself.... So, another delayed day, until I have someone to help me! Ruth is looking good, has a little bit of Edema though, not extremely bad though. I am praying that Ruth will want to have this baby in the stall.... Since she has never had one in a stall before now, and doesn't really trust us, who knows what she will do. So be praying that will work it self out! I think Scout has shot up again, she is so tall, taking after her mum (who is 17 hands). Yeah, well I am so tired today for some reason. Feel very sleepy. We bred Sis today, to Mr. Yella Fella again, just think he is the perfect match for her. I am hoping that first flush we did will be an awesome palomino filly, that is N/N, so maybe we can keep her! For some odd reason Missy isn't coming into heat? What is the deal with that right? I am praying that she will hurry on up! Lady was acting a little crazy today, she is coming into heat, we are breeding her to Kids Classic Style, that is an awesome stud. Talk to you later, Taylor

"Its, Complicated...."

Hey, sorry I haven't posted in a few. It has been a little crazy here the past few days. Well, we put Missy and Omaha back in the foaling stall, since the little guy has ran his shavings down to nothing! LOL. The weather here is much better, sun came out today! So do you know what that means? It is picture day tomorrow! I am going to take pictures of Omaha, Ruth, Heidi, maybe even Classi and Scout for you all. Plus, I want to show you The recip that is carrying Sis's baby, she isn't one of ours. Her name is Abby, and she is an Appy, hehehe. We checked her today, and she is at a 16 day pregnancy, yeah! Sis is a breeder on Monday, and Lady is coming into heat. I think we might bred Sis to Kids Classic Style, maybe. I love "Bucky". Anyways, Ruth is about the same, maybe even has regressed a little.?. But never fear, she will have to get closer sooner our later. Funny story, We had our vet Dr. Spencer bio-op. Classi's uterus today.... I couldn't be there for her to think it was my doing. They said she kept turning around like, are you kidding me? She was probably thinking, "Am I being punked, Ok, where is the camera?" Ok, going to drink me a little afternoon coffee! Bye, Taylor

Ok, it is so cold!!!!!!!

We decided to go ahead and put Ruth (Saints Prayer) up tonight. She has a pretty good size bag right now, and is big as a house! She is bred to Hes Tee Totally Cool (AQHA/APHA). Here is the rundown on Ruth. She is a Skipper W, which we have found cross amazing well with "todays" big time halter stallions. Now, For all of you who don't know the pedigrees of Skippers.... well they can be a little crazy. I say this because back like 10 yrs ago, and still some today, are all pasture bred and raised. And the mares (like Ruths mother) was turned out with several different stallions. So, on Ruth's papers her sire is not correct, we DNA tested her. LOL. She is by Saint Sheila, an amazing crop out stud, who is now deceased. It is all highly organized isn't it, hehehe. And of course back then crop outs weren't allowed to be registered with AQHA.... So just throw a couple of studs in the pasture.... Do you get it now? Some of you are scratching your heads right about now. LOL. We had the best cross with a "Saint Sheila" mare and Touchdown Kid, we were so excited to have her as a future broodmare, but she unfortunately died in a freak accident. I wish I had some recent pics of her, for you guys. Anyways, don't think Ruth is extremely close. I do think she will go before March, but I've been wrong before. I apologize for Ruth's appearance this evening.... I would have brushed her, but I would have to tie her up, and she probably hasn't ever been brushed. For all who don't know she was pasture raised and bred, so she isn't a huge fan of people. I don't think she has even ever foaled in a stall before! Night All, Taylor. P.S. If you see Ruth walking around, and acting irritable, she isn't in labor, just made that she is in a stall without her gang (the herd.) She is boss when Missy is out being a mom. LOL

I forget, What does the sun look like?

I am not kidding, it is so dark outside today! I could have gone to sleep so easily too.... I wish right? My baby (Omaha) was such a good sweet boy today, so cute. I am really depressed thinking about selling him actually. Probably because he is the only baby I have had this year so far. He is such a sweet heart, and not to shabby lookin either! Anyways, it wasn't very cold today, but it is going to get super cold tomorrow if I am correct. Cold and wet, my two favorite combos. LOL. Ruth is doing great, bag is getting pretty big too, her teats haven't started to fill though. I know we will be putting her up soon, just not sure how soon. She is huge, you will laugh when you see that belly on the cam! Just to tell you all, she is bred to Hes Tee Totally Cool. She is brown, though has a nice chestnut/black color to her, not really a bay tone. Did that make any sense? Well, I must say I am really impressed with last years babies. I was thinking about that yesterday. Scout is unbelievable, and Heidi is such a nice filly, looks a lot like her momma. Actually both of those girls look like their mommas! Anyways, have a good night. Taylor

OK, This blog has been giving me serious problems!

Sorry I haven't written a post in a few days. Where I sign in to post, at the "old blogger" said I had to switch to the new one.... I am so not computer savvy, so it took me a while to figure it out. I still don't know if I have! LOL. I will take some pics of the horses for you all when the sun comes out again. I really hate taking pictures in bad weather, they don't look their best without some sun light. Anyways, Omaha is doing fantastic! He is really filling out, getting a big butt, he is going to be huge. I just love him, he is an awesome colt, and I am not just saying this because I own him. I really think he could be a World Show contender. Everything is flawless on him, but I am going to be honest with you, his hocks aren't the best. They aren't really bad or anything, just not like his daddy's, LOL. I really think they are fine, when he stands correctly.... He still loves to stretch out. He needs to remember that he is a Quarter Horse, not a Tennessee Walker. Hahaha. Silly boy. Well, Ruth is progressing as normal. I am going to need to go buy some shower curtains for the stall, so she thinks we won't be watching her deliver. We did that last year with Missy, since she was a maiden mare. Oh, I have some great news! We flushed Sis, and it was a picture perfect embryo transfer! She is bred to Mr Yella Fella. Lets just hope the embryo mare cooperates! We couldn't use Mystic because she wasn't lined up with Sis.... Please be praying that she will line up with somebody! I know it may sound silly, but I am a praying fool. I pray for all the horses everyday!!! Ok, lets see, what else is there to tell you all? Oh, would you all rather have a message board on the new site we are in the process of making, of the regular blog that we have? Just wondering. I have noticed that a lot of sites have message boards and they are a lot of fun. Anyways, just wondering what you all thought! Have a good weekend! Taylor

What a beautiful day

Well, it was absolutely gorgeous out today. Omaha is loving the weather as much as I do. He is doing really well, growing tall and wide. LOL. Such a cutie pie, I just love scratching him all over. Ruth is about the same today bag wise, belly still bigger than the barn. I am not sure if she is just fat, or it appears that way since she is only about 15 to 15.1 hands tall.... Either way, she is huge. Ok, well, I know I always saying, oh we are going to breed so and so to so and so, and just to let you know we are always changing. We are still sticking to our guns on Lady and Sis, which Sis has already been bred, but on Missy, Ruth, and Scottie I am still not sure?! Missy is a tuff cookie because she is most likely OLW positive, and doesn't throw a lot of color by herself. So, I need some advice on who you all like, I am leaning towards a paint or a double registered horse, or a quarter with a good record on paint babies. Of course, and a halter horse too. LOL. I am not to worried on Ruth and Scottie, since they haven't even foaled yet. I love the cross with Ck Kid on Missy, but CK is throwing color, even though Omaha is a overo.... barely. hehehe. Anyways, just thinking out loud. Be praying that all the mares will cooperate with breeding and foaling out. LOL. Thanks, This time of year always stresses me out, the breeding more than the foaling. Taylor Oh, and congrats Locust Tree Ranch on your new BIG colt!

Good Evening....

Hello everyone. All the horses are doing good, getting really fat, even the ones that aren't having babies! Omaha is doing really well, he little teeth are slowly coming in, which can make him grumpy. LOL, but he does have the sweetest personality! Ruth's bag was the same for the past few days, but tonight was bigger. So if she keeps up at this rate.... hehehe. I hope she goes soon, her belly is stretched out so much, it doesn't look like she is very happy about her huge belly either! Who would be? Scottie and Fixation aren't really doing anything, but they are both really big too, just not as big as Ruthless. That is what I call Ruth, when Missy isn't around. Ruth is the boss when Missy in on Maternity leave, and rules with an iron fist. LOL. Oh, we brought Heidi back home (from the trainers) yesterday. She went through a rough patch, so she went out in the pasture with all the other weanlings/yearlings. But, now she looks great. She has an awesome set of hocks, and a head. All of Lady's babies are late bloomers in the muscle department, but none have failed to deliver. LOL. Plus, Heidi in N/N, she is gonna be a very nice broodmare. Anyways, I will talk to you all later. Hey, it is about 9:00, all who are watching at wefoal.com I think Locust Tree Ranch is foaling tonight. I think.... LOL. Taylor

Who's it gonna be???

Who are you for, Colts or Bears? I am a Colts fan, and not because their name has to do with horses! LOL. All the horses are doing great, the weather today was beautiful! Ruth is really coming along. I am glad though, I want Omaha to have a playmate sooner than later. I think it is so important for their development, plus makes it easy on them when it comes time for weaning. Fixation and Scottie look normal, Fixation is known for going late. I just hope she doesn't this year. I am not sure if last year her timing had anything to do with her accident and Scout's development inside momma's belly. Ok, I will let you all go. I promise this week I will get some updated pics of Omaha and the pregnant mares, if you want pics of those three mares. I need a good closeup of Ruth, she is so hard to photograph. Just a little camera shy. ;)
Talk to you later, Taylor

Sorry about this.....

Hey guys, we are putting Missy and Omaha in a different stall tonight, with out a cam, so I am very sorry to all of you addicted foal watchers! I promise that we will get some more cams next yr, so you can watch the birthing stall, and the mare/foal stalls. We are just getting it ready for Ruth, who is already bagging up. Remember, she is due March 9th, but I am definitely betting on her going early. The vet was out today tube worming all the horses, and said there was nothing to worry about, she looks great. This is our first yr having her as a broodmare, since we bought her open last yr, so she might just like going early. LOL. This one is going to be a lot different from Missy. Ruth was raised like all of the old Skippers, in a pasture without much human contact.... So she isn't a huge fan of cuddling, or being brushed or anything like that. I might try to pet her somedays, but if you don't see us in there, it is just because she is kind of scared of us. So, I won't be wrapping her tail or anything like that.... Can you imagine??? You should have seen us trying to worm her today. Can anyone say, Professional Rodeo horse? Just kidding, it wasn't that bad... hehehe. We got some shavings today, Yeah!!! But unfortunately, Class-Class still has to stay outside. Poor girl, she wasn't very happy last night. Ok, on a last note, remember Ruth is bred to Hes Tee Totally Cool. He is double registered. So we might get a nice Paint/Quarter FILLY. LOL. Thanks, Taylor

They said you were a giant. They said you could....

....crush a man's skull with one hand.

Hello all, Glad it is Friday? I think I am. It snowed here last night and today. So the little Omaha didn't get to go out and play... So he is very spunky and feisty! I don't know if you all see me playing with him during the day, he is so funny. His teeth are coming in and he isn't extremely happy about that. Not much he can do about it though. LOL. I think Mystic and Sis are lined up for a embryo transfer, so that is good news. All the mares are great. Ruth is huge, I don't know how she even breathes! She is steadily building a bag, so I would guess on her going late February and early March. She is due the 9th, if I remember correctly. Everyone else is good too, Scout is going through a growth spurt, again. She is going to be a monster! Well, Hope everyone is staying warm tonight. I had to put Classi outside tonight because we don't have any shavings, and can't find any in the whole state of Texas... I am not happy about that either, Classi is my girl, I hate having to put her outside on this very cold night. She is like, "I am a world champion.... ughhh did you forget???!!!". LOL, Have a good night! ~Taylor P.S. Does anyone know what movie this (title) is from?!?
