Not much.....
Abby's bag has regressed a bit today, but I am ok with that, since it isn't even the first of the yr yet! lol. I am probably going to start leaving a halter on her at night, so if she does foal, I have one on just in case we need to grab her. So, I don't think she will be going tonight, lol, but who knows, by tomorrow she could be waxing up, these mares kill me! I put up some curtains on the outside of the stall, so she will have some privacy when we are in the barn during foaling. Of course, if she only knew how many people will be watching her.... lol.
Well, we had a pretty good scare last night with Lady, who is in the next stall over from Abby. I was giving them there "midnight" snack, and as I was pouring Lady's feed I noticed a small amount of blood in the stall, and some under her tail. My heart skipped a few beats, let me tell you. She was perfectly fine, other than the blood, she was eating all her hay and feed, had gone to the bathroom a few times, wasn't sweating, her bag hasn't even started developing, or having labored breathing, her eyes were bright, and all she wanted was a tummy rub (probably her favorite thing in the world!). We called the vet, and he didn't seem to worried after we explained how she was acting. He said there wasn't really anything we could do, even if something was wrong. So I am still not sure what really happened. It wasn't a lot of blood, but it was bright red, and not "watered" down. He did say that a lot of mare get really itchy about 30 days before there foaling date. So maybe she was itching her rear and sightly injured herself. I hope that is all it is. There was no more blood today, or early this morning. Please do pray for Lady and her unborn foal, it could just be a false alarm, but i would appreciate it! Thanks, Taylor
